Fundamental Components:

The Underwriting Analyst will receive thorough training on medical products, concepts and premium rating techniques. The ultimate goal is preparation for accurately quantifying risk and return of prospective and existing business through analyses of trend, claims experience and premium collection, among other factors. The Underwriting Analyst will work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, collaborating with team members to strengthen bottom line financial results by pricing for medical insurance policy premiums appropriately.

Aetna has entry level Underwriting positions available and we are looking for a self-starter who has demonstrated analytical skills, a mathematical mind, good communication skills, and strong common sense. This entry-level position provides opportunities for growth and development, including mentoring and teaching opportunities once the initial Underwriting Analyst skillset has been established.


No experience is required - Willing to train and develop and will provide ongoing mentoring

Bachelors degree or equivalent, considering recent college graduates with business or math related field of study.

Recent College Graduate and/or 1 year business experience and/or recent internship(s)

Basic MS Office and reporting skills

Strong math aptitude

Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external constituents.

Ability to use standard corporate software packages and corporate applications.


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
