THE TEAM

This leader will report to Heather Doocy, Agency & Government Lending Manager for our National Underwriting Production and Risk Management (NUPRM) organization, and will lead a team of approximately 5 direct reports and 100+ total staff in the organization.

THE ROLE

This senior leader will be responsible for managing the Retail Agency/Investor National Decisioning Support (NDS) team supporting Fulfillment, Sales and NUPRM. NDS is an unbiased, highly skilled underwriting team focused on ensuring high risk government and agency loans are acceptable risk to the company. The team performs exception underwriting functions as well compliance underwriting to ensure ECOA/Reg B and Fair and Responsible Lending requirements are met.

This leader is accountable for:

  • Adherence to credit and lending policies, procedures and standards

  • Quality, service and production levels

  • Create and maintain effective relationships with internal and external business partners

  • Demonstrate effective influence leadership

  • Leadership for strategic advancement to meet customer needs, build efficiencies, grow the business including recapture and retention of current customers

  • Ability to manage complex transactions such as risk-layering, asset evaluation, self-employed cash flow and provide sound judgement in decision making of escalations.

THE CANDIDATE

Successful candidates will be able to articulate a demonstrated leadership capability. This position requires a leader with strong relationship management, influencing, vision and execution skills. Responsibilities:

  • Drive for results and achieve business goals throughout the Retail organization to include:

o Ensure adherence to all underwriting guidelines and credit standards, compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and Wells Fargo’s compliance policies

o Develop, improve and build a strong foundation of credit acumen across the NDS team including trending and feedback to partners to enhance the level of credit policy education, information sharing and strategic actions/plans.

o Drive productivity and efficiency improvements of the NDS process

o Audit preparation and engagement as needed

o Meet or exceed quality, compliance and SLA standards

o Identify, escalate, anticipate and manage risk

o Implement effective strategies

o Volume, Profit, Customer Loyalty, Productivity, attracting and retaining top talent

  • People Leadership:

o Coaching, training, development and retention of team

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of lending experience

  • 7+ years of management experience

  • This position requires compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and Wells Fargo's compliance policies related to these requirements including acceptable background check investigation results. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and required reporting of certain incidents.
